MSP34.1

This covers December 2015 and January 2016, and there are manoeuvres for C3 during this period. There is a moon eclipse on 12 December which affects all 4 SC. The GI Bogdanova proposal reserves NM1 during perigee in 2423/4 and 2427/8 in December, and the GI Khotyaintsev proposal will be executed in January, when C3 and C4 are around 3.4km apart at the Bow Shock. The magnetopause is accessible throughout MSP34.1, and the Bow Shock becomes accessible in January. The template Bryant plots for December and January are attached.

14 September: The draft MSP34.1 is now available for review, and the deadline for comments has been extended to 17 September, Noon BST. The NM1 sessions proposed for the GI Bogdanova proposal for 2415/6 in MSP33.3 and 2427/8 have been changed to BM1. Not shown on the Bryant plots are the BM1 single SC sessions for the GI Khotyaintsev proposal: these cover 10 orbits from 2433 to 2442, with 1 hour on C1 and C2, and 7 hours on C3 and C4. The 4-hour equivalent on 4SC means that C1, C2, and C3 will need to have 24 hours of D0 (no-data-taking) to compensate. The list of timings is attached, as are the Bryant plots.

23 September: The final MSP34.1 is now available. The 'by-orbit' sheet shows the activities, and the D0 periods for orbits 2433 to 2442 for the GI Khotyaintsev were set to 23h for C1, C2 and C3, to avoid FGM issues with being in FGMEXTP for 24h. This resulted in a data fill of 107% which has been accepted by ESOC. The 23h D0 sessions have been placed in the outbound part of the orbit, and the outbound magnetopause not accessible for all 10 orbits. An attempt was made to keep the outbound bowshock for C3 and C4 accessible where possible (not orbit 2442). Where possible the D0 has been overlapped with the off period on C3 for manoeuvres.

23 October: The perigee BM3 on orbit 2422 has been moved to 2423, due to the OFF period for the Moon Eclipse on 12 December. An updated Bryant plot is attached.

31 October: The data fill has been increased to 115% in January (see attached D0 list), so the D0 periods in orbits 2433 to 2442 have been reduced to 17.5h for C1, C2 and C3. A 1h PEACE calibration BM1 is added to 2443. (Included in plot on MSP34.2 page)

1 Dec: The timing of the C2 BM1 requests on 5 Jan and 7-8 Jan have been updated, and the D0 periods on 29-31 Jan have been adjusted (see new attachments).
