MSP36.1

This covers December 2016, January 2017 and the first part of February (before the eclipse season starts). It includes the three moon eclipse periods (29 Nov for C1, C3, C4, 30 Dec for C2, and Jan 2017 for C1, C2), and the last manoeuvres in MSP36 on 6 December 2016. The magnetopause boundary is available throughout the MSP segment and the Bow Shock boundary becomes available at the end of December. The priority is the inbound magnetopause boundary and 4-hour BM1 periods are scheduled for this. Two BM1 periods are included at the end of MSP36.1 to cover jet-braking (JB) around the magnetic equator. There is a long 5h BM2 period scheduled for the outbound MP boundary crossing, and other BM2 periods focus on the Equatorial Chorus (EQUA) and Dayside Outer Zone Chorus (DOZC). The data fill allowed is 120%.

16 Sept: The draft plan is available, with the Bryant plots, by-orbit list of activities and events, and the lists of BM1 and BM2 periods. (No D0 periods are defined for the draft MSP.)

23 Sept: The final plan is available, with Bryant plots, by-orbit list of activities and events, and the lists of BM1, BM2 and D0 (no-data-taking on C1, C2, C3) periods. The moon eclipse off period for C1 on 28/01/2017 has been extended to allow ESOC to do some tests (updated timings are on the web page).

24 Oct: By orbit analysis updated to show 4 hour BM1 periods around the MP boundary crossing, and struck out MP boundary crossings, which were removed (from orbits 2586, 2588 (BM2), 2593, 2601, 2604, 2605, 2611).

30 Nov: Three orbits were identified as having Cluster-MMS conjunctions on the inbound magnetopause boundary crossing; 2598 (13/01/2017) and 2609 (07/02/2017) already had 4-hour BM1 periods inserted, and an extra 4-hour BM1 period was added for orbit 2605 (29/01/2017) with an extra D0 (no-data-taking) period. The by-orbit analysis and the D0 list have been updated, and attached.
