This segment covers the period from 06 December 2020 to 13 March 2021 (before and including part of the short eclipse season 2021) and has 140% data volume as a baseline.

For the eclipse season the payload will be off, the dates are SC1: 24/02/2021 12:30 - 21/03/2021 00:00; SC2: 22/02/2021 05:30 - 23/03/2021 12:00; SC3 & S4: 24/02/2021 12:30 - 19/03/2021 00:00. There will be a moon eclipse on C1,C3 and C4 during the short Earth's eclipse season, on C4: 13/03/2021 13:40 - 14:16; on C3: 13/03/2021 13:41 - 14:17; on C1: 13/03/2021 15:09 - 16:04.

There are no manoeuvres during this MSP segment.

Preliminary main science targets are the ECS GI programme on Cluster/MMS conjunctions at the magnetopause, high-latitude northern cusp, magnetopause, bow shock, Cluster/MMS conjunctions at the bow shock and in the magnetosheath. The BM1 data for the PEACE/WHISPER cross-calibration in the magnetosheath also will be collected. This segment also includes BM1 operations during the short eclipse season for 2 Cluster/MMS conjunctions.
